Beyond the Gates of... uh, Corellia?

We all love Star Wars, right? Arguably the most iconic film franchise in Science Fiction history, even though it borrows from a myriad of other sources, there's no doubt that it has since served as the inspiration of so very many films, books and games that have come since. So when Fantasy Flight Games announced they were going to make a Star Wars ground combat wargame, I was psyched, I was so excited.

But the rules are just... Meh? I think that FFG absolutely knocked it out of the park with X-Wing and Armada, but using the standard FFG rules gimmicks for a ground combat wargame just doesn't feel right. There are so many wargames out there that are Already really good, and follow pretty standard formats, that I think would work so much better for Star Wars.

For that purpose, and purely for my own enjoyment (and hopefully that of some friends,) I'm shamelessly re-writing the rules from Warlord Games' 'Beyond the Gates of Antares,' which is itself a d10 variant of the Bolt Action rules. It's a great set of rules, but I just honestly can't bring myself to care about the setting or most of the miniatures in the range.

Anyway, as time goes by I intend to post rules snippets and army lists, and lots and lots of pictures here, once I finally get the models.
